When to use:
To make sure your audio is working before a Zoom meeting.
Check Audio/Microphone in Zoom:
Note: We highly recommend that you always check your microphone and speakers before important meetings, especially if you are the host.
Click on the gear icon in Zoom.
Select Audio to see all of its settings.
Test Speaker button will play a sound through your speakers.
Test Mic button will allow you to speak for a moment and hear your voice. After speaking into the microphone, make sure you can hear your voice clearly.
If anything seems wrong, try working through Common Solutions.
Common Solutions:
- Make sure you are not running Zoom inside of Remote Desktop. You must minimize or close it, the open zoom from there.
Often you can copy and paste the link from within Remote Desktop, and paste it in your local computers browser or zoom app.
- If you’re using a headset and it doesn’t work, try unplugging and plugging it back in.
In your Zoom’s audio setting (same place where you test your mic/speakers), try all microphones or speakers to see which works best.
