What it is:
A feature that allows you to send a link for someone to securely upload a document to a Box folder.
When to use:
To request a sensitive file (applications, transcripts, etc.) from applicants or others that don’t have a UMass account.
To receive files that are too large to attach to an email from people outside UMass
To receive files from multiple people in a way that people cannot see others’ files
Using File Request:
Note: The file request feature will not share your folder with anyone when you send the link, and thus, the folder will remain secure and accessible to your team only. This is different than a standard shared link that gives everyone who has the link access to the folder.
Log into your Box account through a web browser at box.umass.edu and clicking on “Log in to Secure …”
Find or create the folder you would like to have the person(s) upload to and hover over it with your mouse.
Click on the three dots and then click on “File Request”.
This generates a special link that allows people to upload, but not see other submissions. Click on “Copy” so you can give it to someone via email or other means.
The link should show allow the person to upload their document without requiring a Box account.
Once a person uploads their document, you and any collaborators on that folder should be able to see it in the folder. For example, I submitted a “Test” word document, and it shows up in my “Tech Tips” folder.
