Note: This issue only applies to Office 2016. If you are on any other versions, please contact Tech Support.
When trying to encrypt a document using Rights Management Services, you get an error about no logged in office users.
This can be due to logging into an Office 365 account. To use IT's Rights Management Services for protecting emails, Word, and Excel, you must be logged out of any Office 365 accounts.
In Outlook, Word, or Excel:
- Go to File->Account
- Sign out of your account
- Then try encrypting using the usual means (File ->Info->Protect)
- After encryption, make sure to go back to Account tab and sign back in.
